DROPS users are assigned roles on the entity-and global-level. This chapter describes how to assign roles on the global-level.
For more information about assigning roles at the entity-level, refer to Assigning entity-level roles.
For more information about roles, refer to Roles.
Step 1 From the Preferences menu, select Generic Roles to display the five entities for which global-level roles can be configured.
Selecting each entity displays the list of users assigned to the role selected in the Roles drop-down list.
For environments, assign roles per environment type by selecting the type from the corresponding drop-down list. The list is prepopulated with the environment types defined in the Preferences menu.
For more information about environment types, refer to Defining entity types.
Step 2 Click the Add button and select a user from the User Selection dialog to assign him to the selected global role. This dialog is prepopulated with all of the existing users available for the current Server. To remove a user from the selected role, select it from the list and click the Remove button.
For more information about creating users, refer to User accounts.
Step 3 Click Apply to push the changes made live without closing the Preferences menu.
Step 4 Click OK to save.
Result The selected users are assigned to the corresponding roles and therefore have global access to all of the instances of that entity. Their access is limited to that of the role(s) assigned.
Users who are assigned global-level roles do not appear in the Role view of entities to which they have access. Only the locally-defined entity-level roles are displayed in editors.
