Importing LDAP Users
From the Import User view, you can import your users in batch from an LDAP login source, and keep users synchronized. Furthermore, you can assign the DROPS profiles to the imported users immediately from this view.
Before you start using the LDAP import option to manage users, make sure that:
- The user connected to DROPS is an LDAP user.
- The LDAP access is configured on your server.
- The LDAP Import Users feature is set to true in the osgi.cm.ini file in the configuration folder located in the DROPS Server repository, as follows:
[ REST Connection LDAP ]
[...]
userimportenabled = true
Stop the DROPS Server to edit and save the changes made in the configuration file.
-
search.user.dn: sets the distinguished name of the LDAP administrator,
-
search.user.password: sets the password corresponding to the search.user.dn parameter. The password is automatically encrypted at the first start of the server.
It is possible to include additional parameters to manage the LDAP operation with a predefined administrator:
Remove the dn.login.pattern property if you define these two parameters.
When the connection to DROPS is done with an LDAP user, the Import Users option is displayed under the Configuration node in the Configuration Explorer panel.
Follow the subsequent steps to import users.
Step 1
The Import Usersview opens.
Step 2 Tick LDAP to select the login source from which to import the users.
The login source selection boxes are not displayed if the login sources are not already configured.
Step 3 Set the client of the imported user from the drop-down list in the Client option.
Step 4 Select the target profile in the drop-down list. The list shows all the profiles created in the DROPS Server.
Step 5 Define the LDAP User Filter option to retrieve the list of users that can be imported, then click on the Search button.
The way this filter is defined depends on your LDAP, but this value is passed without transformation to the target LDAP.
The filtered results appear as a list.
Step 6 Check the box corresponding to the LDAP user you want to import, then click Import.
